i used to drive around in my dad's old 83 300SD Turbodiesel...slooooooooooooow. But they can fly at highway speeds. I talked to my dad's Benz mechanic and he said they can disable the boost limiter :naughty:

But those things NEVER die.
If you use thin enough oil, the heater might not be necessary. My parents have a GMC diesel truck and the heater cord is just wrapped up under the hood. Starts fine all winter (for plowing snow) with 15w-40 heavy duty oil. Something like straight 30 weight might be too thick. But this truck has two batteries, so that could make a difference.
my rents have a diesel 00 jetta. No plug required it has an internal glow plug I guess. Turn the key half way wait till the light turns off then starts no prob every time. Now with a >1990 its probably a different story. Again, great fuel efficient commuters. And yes, they will run forevAr. Tranny will most likely go b4 engine.
