why are they using aluminum? :eh:
my friend made his own mounts which were practically the same as what Place Racing mounts use now (he made it before Place Racing came out with mass production), but his was heavy as f*ck. i dont think it was aluminum? :dunno:

I can't find anything on teh intarweb about the tensile strength of T6061 aluminum.



The idea of having aluminum motor mounts without knowing the properties of the alloy does kinda creep me out.

Aerospace grade polyurathane... ya...

Yield tensile strength of T6061 Aluminum is 240MPa... roughly half of either an average Stainless or Quenched and Tempered steel.

wouldn't it also depend on the process used? like extruded or whatever?

i think he said it's weak but i would think it's going to depend on the stress involved and if the bracket was engineered to combat the specific stresses...
