Default Computer problem...

My cousin's computer (my old one that I gave to him) is acting fawked up. He said that the hard drive keeps deleting...:dunno: I'm guessing when he starts it up it tells him it can't find the C: drive. Windows reinstalls fine, but after a few days or weeks, it happens again.
Could this possibly be a bad hard drive?

Reformat the drive, reinstall and see what it does.

did that twice, it happened again both times.

Or do you mean low-level format? I've never done that before. :nervous:

fdisk, format, then reinstall... just to be sure.

If that doesn't fix it.... it's either a hardware problem or a corrupt BIOS. Or he keeps getting infected with a virus and/or screws it up.

What drive brand? IBM? Maxtor? Those two are the most common to fail h:

If its western digital, download the utility off their website and run the quick test.
