Its more the principal of the matter.

I am a car guy...doesn't matter the make or model, if I like it I like it..grew up on hot rods and Bugs and have made many moves both domestic and foreign.

But the last thing you ever do is mess with a persons car....you can nail his gf, you can kick his dog, but you never mess with the car or the work they have put into it.

Exactly! All of us car enthusiasts work hard on our cars, and every new best we manage to lay down at the track validates the work we've done. While imitation may be the greatest form of flattery, stealing someone else's numbers to use as your own makes so many others look bad in the eyes of others. Suppose you get called out. What kind of weak excuses will you have to lay out when you can't run the times you claim, or when your list of mods is more extensive than those you've listed? There's no shame in running a 13+ second timeslip. I've run a 20.4 before, and while it's nowhere near great, it's my time and if it were my best, that's exactly the time I'd have in my sig. Use other people's best times as a goal for your car, not as your own.
