Ya have to use what your camera is made for. You can't use Memory Sticks in a camera made for Compact Flash (unless is has both, some are coming that way now)

I bet you probably have compact flash in your camera? Those DO come in diffrent speeds and yes, more money will actually get you more speed and more storage capacity.

Memory brand does matter, they are different internally - how they process information - reliability and speed. Go with a name brand.

i know for a fact that flash medias are only made by a handful of companies.

my friend works for one.

Most of the time they are just rebadged.

if a digi cam uses CF media type then you can use any CF media of the same form factor. The speed and such isn't that much different unless you go from regular ones to the newer (so called) Ultra speed ones. Which are much faster than the regular ones.

The only difference might be with error rates. The more expensive ones might have less error or less error prone.

most older cameras only accept one type of media. with certain cameras, you need a certain brand of media to use all of the cameras features.

such as my camera, with my sandisk media, im not able to take panaramic pics or use some of the other features i have on my camera. its only available when i use an olympus media card.

and YES!!!!!!!!! speed matters. get the fastest you can afford. the worse thing is snapping a pic and waiting for your camera to save it while another great pic flies by you.

on its highest resolution and most detailed file format, my camera takes a good 15 secs to save pics :ugh:

but with normal picture taking, i still have to wait 1.5-3 seconds.
