Some of the future design with LED will have halo angel eyes effect or placing the LED so it recedes for a 3D look to it within the taillight.

Since LED is small the design is virtually endless.

that's not the first concept car to have them. I remember seeing them as far back as 1998.

 

i think from what i read, bmw will try to have a huge cluster of LEDs to make a circle. and the LEDs will move individually kinda similar to their active headlights right now that follows the road when u turn to give u better view.

 

My best friend works at Lumileds (the silicon valley based LED maker.) He has told me about some of their product they are working on, and he told me about this one, thats planed to be used in headlights. Well it was in a meeting and they had turn the lights off in the room and they powered this single LED and it lite the entire room as if the lights were on, you couldn't look directly at it!
