Nope. They are just people waiting to die for their crimes. I don't consider them animals. There are actions and consequences. They made their decision, and they will die as a result of those decisions. It doesn't mean that all of them are animals.

And I don't think anyone is saying "Aww...let's not kill them." I think people are just saying that it's good they are doing something productive as death row inmates.

doing something productive with deathrow inmates would be using their corpses as fuel so we wouldnt have to burn coal, or letting them walk around a gigantic dyno to generate power for my tv.
