Default Stupid Tapping Noise

I have this weird "ticking noise" that is associated with speed. It's not engine RPM related. The faster I go, the faster it taps. It sounds like it's coming from inside the gauge cluster. Any idea as to what it might be?

Yes I asked Engine Tech. I am impatient.

And no I don't honestly expect straight answers out of 95% of you. :jerkit:

seriously...can you stop the noise by holding down the gauge cluster or something? can you hear it at idle? is your turn signal on?

I've held down the gauge cluster, but it still happens. Sounds like something inside the dash. I can't hear it at idle when stopped, but if I put the clutch in when moving it still taps. And no the signal is not on. :fawk:

I'm 99.9% sure it's not engine related.

there are a lot of things that could be associated with speed relative ticking sounds:

-CV joints are going
-transmission
-axles
-rock in your tire? (hey, i've diagnosed that problem before for my sister  )

can you narrow it down?

Why are you so sure it's not engine related?

The CV joints were recently replaced, along with the axles, so I doubt it's either of them.

I'll try to roll in neutral and see if it still makes that sound but it just doesn't seem like a transmission thing.

No idea about the rock, but I just recently had the tires off, so it'd be recent.
