Default What car should she get for $250/month payments?

Lauren told me she is going to buy her own car supposedly and she is paying for it, and her Dad will pay for insurance. She said she wanted an Accord Coupe, a new one at that. In my opinion payments on such a vehicle will eat her up. $250 is a lot cuz then your not going to have any money to spend on anything else but a stupid car. However if she does get something I thought the Accord Sedan was better since Accord is no sports car so why get a 2 door when you can have the functionality of a 4 door. But for cheaper you could get a Civic, and the new Civics look like Accords now anyway, and they are still nice cars. Also the new Corolla is not too shabby either, I like it. Shit maybe a Scion when that comes out. Box is the hottness!

Cars eat money like a ****er. You don't even know. Wait until you have to pay for everything it needs. You will be broke as ****.

YEP, i make about $400 a paycheck, and most of it goes towards my car...2 paychecks a month, $108 every paycheck for insurance, id say $30-$40 per week for gas, then there's the 5,000 mile oil changes that i do by myself (prolly about $20 every time), and the rest of it goes towards payin off the loan for my car. Then there's taking care of it...which it doesnt really need much of right now because it just got outta the shop, but i hafta save up to get the interior fixed, and save up for school. You said it, I'm broke.

New cars are more maintenance free since its going to be a while before stuff starts breaking down on them. But she doesn't really have job security at 17 years old. So payments on something expensive is not a responsibility I would want.

Maybe she could get like a 2000 Civic Hatchback or something.

i guess any father that would buy his little girl a new honda accord or honda civic is makin lotza money these days, especially if he agreed to pay the insurance. so i guess payments wouldnt be a problem. id just hate to see him get tied up in her car payments, especially if anything ever happens to her or the car, insurance and car payments will be up his butt crack!

I'd look into a brand that provides free scheduled maintenance with the purschase of the car. But the only brands I can think of off hand that do this are luxury brands like Audi.

Her dumbass Dad wants to keep the ML. So alone he would own 4 cars + Lauren would have whatever. He has an MDX, Sienna, Saab, and the ML. The MDX sits in the driveway and is never used. So if Lauren has a different car the ML and MDX will sit in the driveway unused. If he keeps 2 unused cars he seriously deserves to be in debt up to his ass for being a complete dumbass.
