Terms Of Service
Honda-Acura.Net administrators and moderators are the sole interpreters of the following rules and guidelines. The only people who determine whether or not a rule has been broken are the administrators and moderators. Administrators/moderators reserve the right to adjust the rules/guidelines in application to certain situations not directly pertaining to a particular term of service, without prior warning.
To preface these guidelines and rules: a short explanation of your role as a member of this site. Some of you may remember that in the past we have not provided firm guidelines for content and conduct on the site. Unfortunately a small minority of members found it necessary to take advantage of this opportunity to push for some kind of “freedom of speech.” This is not a democracy, this is a privately-owned website and those who are in charge are the sole proprietors of its content.
General Forum Guidelines
Please do not post in all caps. According to internet etiquette this is yelling.
Flaming
Heated discussions are fine. Please however, do not resort to personal attacks, insults, etc. Stay on the topic. Insulting another member is looked upon VERY negatively.
Do not instigate fights. This includes either posting in a thread or starting a new thread that is obviously directed at another member. This includes moderators and administrators.
Post Whoring
Do not post whore.
Post whoring is defined as the following:
Posts or threads which have no actual content.
Posts or threads created for the sole purpose of boosting post count.
Replies to a thread which are a simple one-word response that show you have not paid attention to the discussion
Pornography
Absolutely no pornography is to be posted at any time in any forum.
Pornography according to Webster’s dictionary is defined as follows:
Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.
Still or moving images, usually of women, in varying states of nudity, posing or performing erotic acts, sometimes with men, women, animals, machines, or other props.
Administrators and moderators reserve the right to define any other content posted on Honda-Acura.net as pornography and deal with it accordingly.
Forum Spamming
Do not spam the Honda-Acura.net forums.
Spamming is defined as the posting of links/advertisements/etc in multiple forums for the purpose of promoting or selling producs/services/websites not associated with Honda-Acura.net.
Relations with Moderators and Administrators
Moderators and Administrators are people who have volunteered to help out with the running of Honda-Acura.Net. They are not paid, they are not here just to mess with you, and they are not on a power trip.
Do not post complaints regarding the administration of Honda-Acura.Net in a public forum. You may raise any concern by contacting a moderator or administrator.
Do not instigate a fight with a moderator or administrator.
Do not insult/deride/annoy a moderator or administrator for the sole purpose of your amusement.
Whatever a moderator or administrator says in regards to the running of Honda-Acura.net, goes. Once again, if you have an issue with a decision do not air it in public. If you are having a conflict with one particular moderator or administrator, it is perfectly fine to contact a different moderator or administrator.
Reprimands & Consequences
Honda-Acura.Net staff reserve the right to apply and adjust any sanctions for any violation per the guidelines below. The staff also reserves the right to make exceptions to the following guidelines on a case-by-case basis.
Minor rule violations may be punished by any of the following actions:
Verbal warning from moderator or administrator via post/PM/email
Deletion of the offending posts.
Closing of thread.
Repeated violations will be punished in the following manner:
After an informal warning, a moderator or administrator may warn an offending member that they will be banned if they continue with their course of action.
If the member continues to break the rule(s), their account will be TEMPORARILY BANNED for a period not to exceed 24 hours.
If the member attempts to register a new account and post in response to their punishment or in any other way publicly protest their reprimand, the new account will be banned and the length of the ban of the original account extended by another 24 hours. A temporary ban may be extended two times, to a total of 72 hours.
If after having their temporary ban extended two times a member continues to violate the original rule or publicly protest, their IP address will be permanently banned thus preventing any new user accounts to be created from that computer.
Note that no distinction is made based on the length of time a member has been active on Honda-Acura.net or prior standing in relation to violation of the forum rules and their consequences.
Appeals
If a member feels that a reprimand/consequence was unjust or excessive he/she is encouraged to first talk with the moderator or administrator who initiated the action. This does not mean post your concern in public.
If a member is uncomfortable in contacting the staff they are directly in conflict with, they may also contact another member of Honda-Acura.Net staff.
There is no guarantee that an appeal will be heard or a decision overturned. However if a member exhibits that they understand how the TOS have been violated and why the consequence was applied, this will greatly increase the chances for leniency. Keep in mind that a successful appeal will bring increased scrutiny to all future actions by the member.
So kids, please follow the TOS and by all means if you have a question feel free to contact a member of the staff for clarification
