Default Anyone still into saltwater tanks?

I have an opportunity to buy a 75 gallon tank with stand for $75. I'd love to do a saltwater tank but my last one was 5 years ago.

I dont have enough space for one, but we just started 2 5g tanks. One in the living room and one on my desk in the office. Saltwater has all the cool looking fish

I've had a saltwater tank going for the last 7 years. My current tank turns 3 years old next month.

With that said, a 75 gallon will cost thousands to get started. Go to reefcentral.com and do some reading. Just make sure you're not in over your head.

As a point of reference, my 25 gallon rimless cube cost me $1300 to start. I bought great quality equipment when I could, though, and offset this by building my own stand (saved $200) and building my own sump (saved $150)

And a 75 gallon will be a pretty significant time sink in terms of maintenance.

I don't want to talk you out of it or anything, but I've had friends see my tank and drop big coin to start their own only to give up within 6 months. I love my tank, though, and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Since moving, I don't have reliable enough electricity to spend money on saltwater anymore. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a good fish store in the state of Arkansas. I miss working at Premium Aquatics

There's always online.

I had to drive an hour one way in IL to find a crappy store. Now in LA there are 3 excellent stores within 20 minutes of me. Makes a huge difference.
