I haven't been able to get onto that site for two weeks
can't use askjeeves, can't acces alot of other search engines too

Then came spankavelli

He seen I had mentioned it in another thread and I hit him up on AIM and he walked me through the process(very simple) of getting rid of this and now my Google is back:yay:

I had tried all kinds of spyware type deals that are supposed to find and kill this type of stuff, I tried at least 6 or 7. None fixed it.

I think google might be dabbleing in the "pay us and we'll bump you up on the results" deal.... as of right now....they are the only search engine that doesn't taint their results with companies that pay them.... I'm hopeing it's just a fluke and that's not changing....

no, it's my homepage. never have any problems

 

some sort of spyware gets on your computer and creates a file called hosts. what this hosts file, in essense, does is when you type in a web address, it directs you to whatever IP is specified, even if it is wrong. the hosts file in question has every possible instance of google but has an ip address for another search engine that is run by some ad company.
