i hope you never use a towel that you use to dry off with when you get out of the shower...that will put scratches in it.
buy a chamois, that is what ur always supposed to use for drying your car off...and some microfiber towels too. but then again, u have a camaroh:

Chamois=:nono:.

First off, register at Autopia.org and do a few searches. Here are a few things:

Lambswool mits are much better than spongues. The deeper nap keeps the dirt farther away from your paint, thus less scratching. To try, take the spray nozzel off of the paint and the water will sheet (even if the car is well waxed). Next, order a pakshak http://www.pakshak.com/ microfiber waffle weave drying towel. You may want to pick up a few regular buffing towels too, once you go with microfiber you won't go back.

It's going to be easier to wash a well waxed car. Check to see when you can wax the paint, it's usually no less than a month.

For shampoo, Meguiars Gold Class is awesome. After the wash, I'd take some quick detailer (Meguiars Final Inspection is pretty good, or Eagle One's is nice too--for consumer level) and use a microfiber towel. It will look its best with a wash+quick detail.

My brother does autobody and he gave us some type of cloth made of out rawhide (its soft, not hard). It takes a little longer to dry but it works like a charm. Im not sure on the name though.

The Big Blue Towel is the best to dry off your car, and when I soon get back my car from being repainted aswell, I'm washing it with Blackfire Shampoo and Conditioner, I'm not polishing it or waxing or detailing till 30 days after tommoow.

don't use regular bath towels on your car. not only will they scratch the paint, they also leave little fuzzies all over the place.
