Up shit creek at work
On Monday nights I work as the head tutor, an over glorified position where you are supposed to set an example for others. In the 2 years that I have worked as a tutor I have never done something wrong or outta line. This Monday was a tad bit too slow so I decided to leave at 10:45PM instead of the usual 11PM closing time. I went to the main desk got a ping pong paddle and decided to kill 10 minutes time.
Well the main desk people ratted me out. They are students working and its kinda appaling they would do something like that. Then I get accused of breaking the paddles which were broken and I never pointed that out. Well I got a lecture from my boss today and a curt email saying that if thats the kind of work ethic I am promoting then its pretty disappointing.
So do I tell my boss "Hello everyone else is doing this too, not just me and btw I did not break those paddles so I shouldn't be responsible for them. Or do I just give them one of mine, learn the lesson and move on. Problem is I had a very good rapport with my boss and now she doesn't like me. Which means that when I apply for the graduate assistant position next year she is gonna look real close at my application.
Dammit I really wish I wouldn't pull stunts like that. :slap: me someone.

your boss got a complaint so he has to act on it or else he would look bad. the only thing you can do is return the hate back on those snitches. tell your friends to come and start up some trouble and complain about them

I am gonna find the snitch and ask them why they did it. It seriously pisses me off that I am expected to maintain a 100% perfect code of conduct and one slip up and I have every finger pointing at me, yet others can screw up every other day and get away with it.

A whole 15 minutes? I know what you mean, I leave volunteering early a lot if it is slow. I don't know, accept what you did about leaving early, tell her you really didn't break the paddels, and move on. Things will work out, it's not the end of the world.
