I can tell you one thing, I hate Seeing this at every damn phpbb site I wonder too, it's like the plague. Someone should talk to that guy and maybe see if he will put a list of sites to go to for the remainder of the month for where to catch people, like when me and some other poeple closed HS down and provided links to helpful sites.

If someone really wants to get that domain to rescue it, I would do the following:
1.) Check to see when the domain name expires, and buy it, or I think you could use the squating thing, since if he closes and doesn't use the domain name or whatever.
2.) Start saving topics into word or something, like major tech articles or whatever
3.) Make a thread to get emails, AIM names and someone start up another place if they want and email everybody and start again.
Just my thoughts on how you might try and save the site per say or community :-/

That sucks, mainly for the community since they rely on the board for alot of information, I would still get a group of people and start pulling tech articles and threads and all that off and make a database of it all for some other place. Watching a community get shut down like that is rough, watched it happen a few times on Neowin.
