Default Side skirts

Hey...I just wanted to ask a quick question. I painted my side skirts about a 3 weeks ago. They are not as glossy as I want them to and there is already 2 chips on them. So Im going to sand them down and re-paint them with a better quality paint from NAPA. Last time I just used a grey Auto Primer, and some White paint can spray for anything from Home Depot. It is not smooth it is kinda ruff and dull. Im going to re-paint them and I wanted to know what I should sand them down with? This will be done by hand. Now is can spray going to look good?
Thanks guys....
Jon

use fine grit sand paper when sanding to make it smooth

use a couple coats of paint, then a couple coats of clear coat for the shine.

NOOO dont use gray primer, its for metal. Instead prime with adhesive promotor, its made for flexible surfaces like plastics. A couple coats of that should do you good. The only chips youll see are crumbs on you floor mats.
