well it got a little cold in here(snowing lol) when ever i start my car and it's cold and i start driving something squeaks when i turn the steering wheel, somethimes it goes away and sometimes it stays like that, it's really annoying, any ideas what it could be???

Strange, the same thing just started happening to me and coincided with cold weather as well. It sounds like a rubber seal or something is loose, to me. Anyone know anything?

 

thats it, it sounds like a rubber , maby belt or something like that
i have to raise my car up because of snow tomorrow so i may as well check that

This is gonna sound really dumb, but check the power steering fluid level. It's probably low.

 

suspension.... ummm any metal to metal contact where the grease has frozen up or maybe isnt even there anymore. -Dan

 

Sounds very familiar....

Try this.

At the bottom of the steering column is a plastic cover. It covers the yoke of the steering column where it connects to the P/S rack.

Remove the cover and set it aside.

Get a flathead screwdriver and some ball bearing grease.

Vaseline might even work if you dont have any grease. See the rubber ring around the bottom of the yoke? all the way to the bottom. That rubber is dry (and cold) grease it up! See if that helps.

Did you post this on HT a week back?

If so, again, check the fluid, its probably low. Theres a good chance a $8 bottle of PS fluid solves your problem.

 

well i check my fluid levels all the time, i do most of the miantnance on my car myself and everything is perfect condition, plus if there is something really wrong my buddy who is a mechanic fro acura takes car of it.i think it's what shoofly said, so i have to check it out. Hopefully ill drop by my boddy's dealership and let him take a look at it tomorrow.
