Washing: Gas station or do yourself??
The above is well and good for those of you living in areas without winter, but during the winter months here, we turn off the water supply to the outside taps, since it still water in the taps outside can freeze and rupture the pipes. So, touchless car washes are the only alternative - in any case, the key is to find one that you know is 'state of the art' and is used often and well maintained. Then after the wash, go over any 'trouble spots' with a terry cloth, and then apply your wax.

Touchless washing sucks, it still leaves dirt on the surface.
CrucialSI: I wouldn't wax your new paint for 2-3 months. That's what they told me when I got my car painted.
