Default paint......help

I just bought a bodykit for my car that I've been wanting
for years. (THAT I COULD FINALLY AFFORD TO BUY!) I just found
out that they, a certain bodyshop in Petaluma, want to charge
me 2 grand to get it painted -just the kit.
Is that the right price range? It seems too expensive.
Anybody know of a well-known, good-reputable bodyshop to get
my kit painted? Anything around Santa Rosa or San Fransisco would
be great but preferably one around Santa Rosa.
I was told that it would be cheaper if i was to have them put
one coat of silver on the bodykit, and put a 2 tone or whatever layer
over the whole car. Basically so they dont have to try and match
the silvers perfectly. Supposedly silver is one of the hardest colors
to match.......who knows! Hopefully someone has some ideas!!!!
THANKS....Christina

$2000 is to much even for a high quality job. It isn't necessary to paint your whole car. A good body shop will be able to match your paint. Try a different shop.

what year is your car? My car is silver and 99 and it was matched perfectly. Unless your car is in bad shape it shouldnt be very faded. so matching shouldnt be too big of a problem. Find another shop

If its in perfect shape then there's no reason to get the whole car painted. Try a different shop. If you do the preping yourself you will save a lot of money. Spend a weekend wet sanding with 400 or 600 grit.

They can even match faded stuff. They scan the paint on the car and adjust for fade I THINK. Is your car Vogue Silver Metallic?? Dunno if they used it in 97 or not. I agree with the others about cost.

i dont know what kind of silver it is....it looks like all the other silver integs around. i think im gonna fit the kit on my car and then take it off to get painted so it knocks off some money and ill put it on myself. It will already be fitted all i have to do is attach it.
