The quality work depends entirely on the surface prep and post-blast cleaning. An experienced powdercoating shop will likely be able to do all the necessary work under one roof.

Google "powdercoating near _______," entering your ZIP code in the blank space. It's the fastest way to search for business listings in your area.

As far as the end result is concerned, I wouldn't worry that much.

Assuming the sandblasting is thoroughly and carefully done, the finished product will look fine. The process involves spraying a charged enamel powder onto the bare metal, then baking the powdercoated rims in an oversized oven.

Under high heat, the powdered enamel then melts and forms a very tough finish over the entire surface of the rim. You'll be able to pick your color as well as the level of gloss, so choose carefully... if you change your mind after the process is complete, you have to re-strip the rim and start all over.
