I don't own the Competitions, but I do own a set of 16" SSR's and when I had them on my car with 40 series tires, I didn't realize I was messed them up with daily driving.

Granted I drive as cautious as possible, but certain situations can't be helped and I have a hit a few road imperfections every now and then. When I finally got around to getting new tires for my wheels, I opted for a bigger sidewall as the wheel shop told me that two of my four wheels were slightly bent (on the inner part of the wheel, not the lip).

Got the wheels fixed and have new tires on them with beefier sidewalls and the only problems I have now are slight rubbing issues due to improper offset (too little).

These were the SSR GP-0's. I went from Nitto's NT450 205/40/16 (crappiest tire ever made) to Falken Ziex 502 (also 205/40/16). This is when I found out that my wheels were bent. They might have been bent since the Nitto's, but I wasn't made aware of them until I got rid of the Falkens and then got the Yokohama Parada Spec II's 205/45/16.

I think when these go out, I'm gonna try the Falken 451's 215/40/16.

I love these wheels and wouldn't give them up for anything. I bought them brand new in '97. For the most part, I think they held up pretty damn well. I wish there were certain things that I've done differently while I owned them, (there were certain things you have to do to take care of wheels with a polished lip h: ) but I'm extremely happy with these.
