Default Blinking 3rd Brake light

I have seen a few cars in town with a blinking 3rd Brake light. Whenever they press brake, the 3rd light or the light on the spolier BLINKS for a few times and then stops. Does anyone know how to do it. I think it done by a relay of some kind but dont know which one and how to use it.
Thanks for all the help in advance

I think they're annoying as helk, but they sure do get attention. I'm not sure how you'd get it to stop after so many blinks, but you could have it constantly blink by putting a flasher in line to that light. It's the same concept as your turn signal. Just get one with a very low amperage rating so that it doesn't blink really fast and you're good. It'd be snipping the wire, putting connectors on each of the ends and connecting it to the flasher. Very simple.

just put a red-tipped x-mas light in line...that should do the trick. lol. i saw a civic w/ the blinking brake light yesterday. it gets attention but if i were stuck behind it at a long traffic light or a train crossing, i'd go nuts. understandable for bikes though

I'd consider getting one to wire to my third brake light. but you'd get almost the same thing out of pumping your brakes :reechy:

I've seen a few higher-end cars that have them stock. blink three times then solid.
