Default Cleaning oxidation on window trim

Tried searching, didn't find anything, so here's my question: my Prelude's window trim (the rubber parts) has parts that are weathered. Those parts almost look like they have surface rust on them, even though they're not metal. Has anyone been successful in cleaning that? What did you use? Thanks!

Best thing to do is take them off, sand with 600 grit sand paper, and paint them black with "Trim Paint" (can be found at most auto part stores)

Hmm, I didn't think of painting it, but it might come to that.
