Actually you should clear coat them. Non-shiny clearcoat is available. You'd want to protect the paint from everyday wear and tear.

Though I wouldn't recommend painting the interior altogether as I've seen so many ruined interiors over time because the paint has chipped away.

3 Stage Paint is only with certain types of Pearl Paint Jobs. Let's say the paint job will be a white Pearl, the first stage is a basic solid white color...the 2nd Stage is the pearl coat...and the 3rd stage is the Clear Coat.

You don't have to primer the interior if you're going to paint it. Then only time you need to primer a surface before painting is if you have done some body work to it first. I worked at a body shop for 1.5 years, my dad has been doing body work for 30 years, and has owned his own shop for 17 years. To properly paint your interior...clean it VERY well with some cleaning agent...b/c if you've taken care of your interior, chances are you've put Armorall on it, and paint will not stick to surfaces with armorall on it. Then take a product called a Scotchbrite...you can find these at a local auto paint store...all you need is a gray one. Then mask off what you want to paint, then paint it. Use nice even coats, don't spray too heavy, don't try to cover it all at once. I hope this helps you some.

i was just trying to explain that the color = base coat. for soem reason i just started rambling about different stages of painting. i know that each coat is basically a stage.

I wasn't trying to say that...I was trying to say that 3 stage paint is a special paint job that is just for pearl coat paint jobs.

it wont be the dash or anything that wil be destroyed from the paint, because the vinyl will be a pain to paint in the first place. ust a few plastic parts with the new carpet to see how it will all look together. if it doesnt look right, then i go back to the factory color, or use some paint remover.
