Default Tire/Fender Problem. Please Help!

Hey guys,

I got 2002 RL with 225/45/18 Nittos 555 on 18x7.5 wheels (45 offset). Whenever I got somebody sitting in the back, my back tires are rubbing against the fenders on bumps, turns and uneven road. Before getting the tire/wheel package from tire.com, I saw a lot of people with the same tire/wheel set up and didn't think there will be this "rubbing" issue. Also, the guy at the tire.com seemed to know his stuff and said there shouldn't be any problems. Can anyone help me solve this problem?! Appreciate all your help!

Gene

Is it rubbing on the inner fender, or the outer fender? If it's rubbing on the inside, then the wheel offset might be too high. If it's rubbing on the outer fender, then the offset is too little. Otherwise, it might just be the tire itself. Sometimes even if the tire size says that it's 225/45/18, (seems like you're using a drag/street tire) it might really be wider than that. If you get a different brand tire of the same size, it might not rub.

if you can get a 40 aspect ratio on that tire then i dont think you would rub as much. either that of you can grab a 215 wide tire.
