A guy I know gave me a squirt bottle full of hydrochloric acid. Spray that shit on your aluminum block or head, let it sit about 5 minutes and spray it off with a high pressure washer, like the ones at the car wash. Does a great job, and you really don't need to scrub it at all..

Most car places + walmart + target + kmart all has it.

 

i DIY cleaned my y8 head with a degreaser but it wont remove carbon buildup etc. you really nead to take it to a shop. its like 20 bux to get it acid dipped

also, i noticed a bit off rust on my valve guides from the harsh degreaser. so i oiled them and they're fine but.. just another reason to take it to a shop which uses "safe" chemicals as they call it.
