Default Civic console trim kits

I am looking at getting one of the OEM carbon fiber console trim kits. My questions are, does anyone here have these, how did it look installed?

And most importantly the instructions say it will not stick to any surface that has been treated with a protectant. What? it looks like it just sticks on with 3m tape. A basic cleaning with alcohol not enough? So has anybody installed these on a dash that has been treated regularly with armorl all and the meguiars equivalent? Anybody just glued one of these things down and not use the tape.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a few friends that used these 'stick-on' trim kits. They don't seem to be great quality, and I don't see spending $300 for stickers is worth it.

But, you should be able to use them if you clean the surface well, with no residue. Alcohol will work fine at removing oils/solvents. I don't suggest glue because one day, you WILL want to remove them.

use rubbing alcohol to completely strip the surface ... you might even remove some of the dye and you should be okay.

but it looks cheap when you're done. it's a gigantic pre-cut sticker.

Really, are the honda ones really that cheap looking. I have seen cheap ones on ebay, but I thought these were different.
