all you have to do is remove the pannel under the trunk and I think its 4 bolts its very easy. As for the holes you would eaither have to have them welded or fill them in with fiberglass

if i got the holes professionally painted, would i be able to tell there was once a spoiler there? also, if the civic comes with the spoiler with led brake light, does it have the led brake light inside the car at the bottom of the windshield?

You could get the third brake light, and a trunk lid from another 00. Keep the SI lid so you can swap it back if you ever want or need to.
I don't know if SI's came with the same paint colors as the ex's or whatever, but that would be the only thing requiring you to paint.
But really for that much cash you could get a carbon fiber lid or something.

If you shave the spoiler, there is a very slight possibility of getting a ticket for not having a 3rd brake light. The cop has to be a real dickhead, but I have seen it happen.

I'd leave the spoiler in, after you remove it, you'll have to get it repainted and touched to fill in the 4 holes.

But if you insist, then might as well graft in a strip of LED's in the trunk lid for your 3rd brake light. I've seen this done on a few cars, one of my favorite's is Inspyral's custom work...

If your car is Milano Red, I'll give you my trunk lid if you give me yours with the spoiler. Sounds like a badass trade, huh. But I have an OEM small spoiler...If you wanna just sell teh spoiler that's cool.
