Wheels
I'm planning on getting new wheels for my '93 Teg GS-R. I'm not really sure what looks good, so I'm looking for some suggestions/advice. The wheels on my Teg right now seems way too small, what is a good size.
If it's not lowered it will look kinda "funny" with bigger rims. I'd lower it and go with 16s. Oh wait, I did do that! Heh, well, if you don't wanna lower it then I'd stick with stock rims because they look pretty decent and give a decent ride on bumpy roads. Or maybe go with 15" '94-95 GS-R rims.

You have to make a decision here based on what you want for your money...do you want another hyped out rice burner with fly rims that do nothing for your performance, (or make it worse) or do you want to make the car actually perform better. I have yet to invest in new rims because I want to improve my performance. I could go to tirerack or whatever and plunk down $1000 or more for 17" rims that weigh 7 - 12 pounds more than my 15lb OE rims...but that means that all of the engine mods Ive made (not that many mind you) would be worthless, since the engine would now be hauling that much more weight. Remember, a spinning wheel exerts alot mre force than you think. Go out to your garage and take the front wheel off of your bicycle and spin it while holding it from the axle...youll get the picture...now imagine that force many times greater at highway speeds or under acceleration loads...Bigger is not better in the world of wheels...lighter is. Go to http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html
to check your wheel weight before you buy.

yes yes we all know that heavier wheels slow down your car. But he asked for what looks good. In addition, the stock 14" wheels weigh about 15.5 lbs (93 gsr rims) and my wheels are 16" and weigh 17.5 lbs each. That's not a whole lot. Certainly not 7-12 lbs difference. There are also many wheels that are bigger than stock and weigh less. If you want to race your car get 15" lightweight wheels and sticky tires but most people just want something that looks good.

I'd have to go with the Rota Sub-Zeros... best bang for ur buck. 16.5 lbs which is only 1 lb more than stock gsr rims (hammerheads anyways, blades are a bit lighter). But heavy rims do slow down ur car... A LOT.

I didnt mean toimplyekjl ought to go with some ugly lightweight rim...just to use his head when making a choice...sorry. If you want to go ahead and buy some 30 pound 19" rims, go ahead...youre the one looking for advice. Its clear that you have no taste and no brains. too bad! So Stick it, riceboy! Better hurry, Blockbuster is about to close, and youve had their copy of "the Fast and the Furious" for two weeks now...:fawk: :fawk:

True, but remember, when those wheels are SPINNING, that weight grows exponentialy. 1 pound at 0 mph translates to many more pounds of force the engine must work against at higher speeds...
