Default 99 Civic Carbon Fiber Hood

My birthday is coming up so I will be getting a carbon fiber hood. I was wondering if I am going to need hood pins? If so can someone post links to where I can buy some? And instructions on installing the hood pins?

What brand of hood are you going to get?

Brand can sometimes determine if you'll need pins or not.

With VIS you shouldn't need them.

I am planning on getting the hood on Ebay. The guy selling the hood says it is a VIS hood. But when I e-mailed him and asked him if there was a VIS sticker on the bottom of the hood this is what he said: This in fact doesn't have a VIS emblem on the hood. This was purchased by our shop almost 2 years ago and
this was before they started putting the VIS logo on
their products. I mean it might sound weird to you but
when we did our purchase order, VIS was still a very
new company. Lots have changed since then.

Does this seem sketchy? The guy has a 98.6% rating. Should I post a pick of the hood?

No it doesn't seem shady. I have a VIS "invader" CF hood and I got it when VIS was just coming out with their CF hoods. None of their hoods had this emblem or sticker that makes it an "authentic" VIS hood.

You could ask the seller if the hood's CF weave goes all the way around to the bottom of the hood (for the front anyways), has holes for the squirters and holes for the bolts and has the latch built into the hood. If these are all present, then it's a VIS hood.

I've heard that the newer VIS hoods are better quality than the older ones. I don't have first hand experience with this though.

If you don't drive extremely fast, the VIS should be fine without pins (but still reccomended).

Here is 2 pics of the hood. One of the top and one of the bottom. It does not look like it has holes for the windshield washers.

Where do you see the holes? Are you talking about the 2 holes on the back of the hood? Do I still have to drill 2 small holes for the squirters?
