Straight line acceleration is not the final determining factor. Drive an S2000 and you will most likely appreciate how well the chassis is set up. Everything works perfectly together--brakes, shifter, clutch, steering, suspension, tires, etc.
It seems like most of the people who posted in that thread don't really have anything bad to say about the S2000. I think you have too much time on your hands.
