cutting shifter

Default cutting shifter

if i cut the shift lever like with a hacksaw (i know it sounds ghetto my buddy did it on his passat) and put a momo knob on it do you think it would look/ function ok still?

so its a little shorter and the thicker part of the shifter will be better for putting on the momo knob

i did this with my civic, and used a clamping shift knob, id never attempt it on my S though!
id just invest in a short throw shifter!

That would look ghetto............just get a short shifter........they aren't even that expensive.............don't buy a car if you can't afford the aftermarket

You really shouldn't have an S2K.
The stock shifter is fine, leave it alone.

i would really like to get a short throw though i like the real short click of a short throw. i feel that this one is kinda high up.. like lengthy

u serious? ur saying that an s2000 shifter is long? :screwy: Ever driven a Civic Si? Integra? Those are lengthy throws on those cars.


To answer ur question, if u cut it, would it still function ok, yes, look ok? maybe, as for durability, well since your cutting the metal and then welding, no matter how good of a weld it is, its not going to be as strong as before, ive seen shifters break cuz people cut them, then again ive seen some last pretty long before they did.

i would recommend just leaving it alone, and if you really want a short shifter (that is short throw (Some are actually "SHORTER") buy yourself a brand name one, dont cheap out on the s2000. I mean if you can afford the s2000 you can afford 150 bucks for a decent shifter
