Default "maintenance required" light?

My "maintenance required" light on the dash on my 00S2k has been on for a couple thousand miles. I don't know if this is usual because I've only had the car about 7 months. I'm assuming nothing is wrong, because the "check engine" light is okay and the car runs fine. I do regular maintenance myself anyways. I'm guessing this is just one of those things that automatically comes on every few thousand miles just so you're forced to go to the dealer and have the oil changed and have the light turned off. Is this the case? If so, how do I turn it off? I"ve tried disconnecting the battery, but it didn't help. Who knows anything about these?

It should be in your manual. I don't know anything about S2000, but on my Accord, you turn your key to the second position, hold down the rest button for your odometer for 10 seconds, and continue holding it down as you start the car up. That should get it to disappear.

i got the same thing on my s2k ('04)...it came on at 6000 miles (yesterday).

i had the oil changed at 3750 - so i'm thinking it's just a "friendly reminder" as you described...in any case, a friend of mine is a honda mechanic - so i called and left a message just to make sure...

if you want once i talk to him i'll post his response...

In my integra there is a button under the dash, under the steering column. just push it and the light goes out. Should be in your manual though.

turn the key to lock position, hold the trip button on dash where you can reset your mileage (there's 2 buttons can't remember which one you hold down off hand) while pushing the button turn you key as if you were going to start your car. Wait a few minutes and the ligh will go off. It is in the manual though.

My integra is a 94 and my maintenance required light is on too. It came on for the 92K miles mark....which I assume is the timing belt warning. So, my switch is under the steering column?

yeah, under the dash under the steering column. Look under the dash, like in the area of the pedals, and you'll see a box with a square button on it. Thats what your looking for.
