Acura RSX-Type S horsepower rating?
Has anybody actually put one on the dyno yet? I've seen two of these that come no where near the advertised 200hp mark. I've seen 2 different Type S's that only rate 185 the other at 189hp at the crank. Not the 200hp Honda/Acura advertises.

That's too bad SVTFocus. LOL! I wonder if they can even keep up with our cars. I haven't used a dyno on my car yet, but I'll bet it wouldn't be far from these #'s. That's kind of embarrassing for Acura owners considering my car is bone stock aside from an air intake.

Last night I was talking with Oscar Jackson owner/founder of Jackson Racing and he saying the same thing, that the Acura RSX Type S isn't even close to the 200hp advertised. The wheel horsepower on the Type S is very close to our wheel horsepower on the SVT Focus.

I never said it did. I just said I had a converstation with Oscar Jackson about the Type S Acura, and he said that the HP rating is defintetly off when they tested em, its a Honda marketing thing, because the Japanese Type S is definetly 200hp, the U.S. version is not, I've personally seen 2 different stock Acura's dyno'd at under 200hp myself, so talking with Mr. Jackson pretty much nailed the coffin on my suspisions. :fawk:

Thats supposedly what Mr. Jackson told him. Also if this were true Acura owners would have known about this by now and would be at Honda's front steps. Anyway I think since the RSX has been out for a while now that someone woulda picked up on it besides some Honda/Acura hating ford owner.

By the way smart man, All companies dyno at the crank. The wheel numbers are going to be lower due to drivetrain losses. It's a marketing thing with them all. "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races." Ring a bell?

1. I'm not a Honda/Acura hating Ford fanboy. I love Honda's, in fact I own one fast 1990 CRX fully built by JG Engine Dynamics.
2. I'm talking horsepower at the crank, not the wheels.
3. I'm a car enthusiast, I'm not biased towards 1 car manufacturer alone, I love Honda's and I just so happen to love the new SVT Focus too, I think Ford finally built a great car for a great price! I'm just dissappointed in the new SI hatchback and the RSX Type S horsepower dyno's at the crank.
