IIRC the only major difference was the cams, maybe some other stuff like exhaust changed. Overall the engine makes a little more power, said to be somewhere between the 02-04 type-s and the ITR

The 02-04 RSX-S has 200hp at 7400rpm and 142lb of torque at 6000rpm. The 05-06 has 201hp (some say 210hp but thats false) at 7800rpm and 143lb of torque at 7000rpm. So the readings is one for each measurement, also with a higher rpm peak power for both readings, making the 05-06 slightly faster.

The 05+ was rated using the new SAE measurements the increase wasn't that apparent in the numbers. Compared to the 02-04 engines the increase would have been to 210HP under the old system of measurement.
The 05+ engine pretty much was designed to be smack between the ITR and original Type-S engines.
