Default Engine Cleaning

Can anyone out there recommend the best way to clean the engine (external cleaning) on an 05 RSX Type S? It's all factory, no modifications under the hood but I've noticed it's gotten quite dirty under there. Is it wise to take it to a car wash and hose it down with the high pressure hose? Can the cool water on a hot engine cause damage? Should I send it off to be detailed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You won't hurt it. Just cover your dist. up & if you have a all purpose cleaner or something that states engine gunk etc. Make sure motor off. Spray your degreaser let sit few minutes & also scrub any dirt you can get to then spray entire engine just water. Next start up car let run a few minutes then shut engine off. Wife off engine bay w/ towel/chammy etc.
You shoud be good 2 go. You can also use Armor All 2001. Something for vinnly/rubber.
No need to have detailed. Do it yourself. I need to redo all my vehicles.
Good Luck
