yes the remote works, and only the side doors locks is not working at all. You are right, you can't lock the door if the door is open. could it be that the door locks are disconnected? I just bought this car that's why I dont know the history of its alarm system. 
what about the dash board red led light? when should it light?

not really sure, i never paid attention. well it sounds like the remote works, now we have to figure out what's up with your locks. your locks work manually, but do the power locks work, seperately from the keyless?

The door power locks works separately. When I push down the lock ( this is the small tab located by the window not the main lock located lower side inside the door ) on the driver side door, I can hear the hatch lock too. When I use the main switch/lock only the hatch locks and side doors does not lock.

You are right. Since my 1st post was about the remote and now we can say that my remotes are not the problem. Thanks a again. I will post my problem with my door locks separeately.
