Default type-s fuel types

I am looking at purchasing a used rsx type-s. But, I am a little concerned about what type of fuel I will have to put in it. I have read that Acura reccomends premium, but I was wondering if there were any owners out there that have had any bad luck putting 89 octane in their type-s. Also, does anyone know what if any damage it could cause?

your ecu will compensate for the lower octane but you won't get the maxium performance. My advice stick to 92+ octane

If you don't want to put premium in the RSX-s don't waste the 4000 dollars on it over the price of a base RSX that uses regular. Yes the engine will compensate for the lower octane fuel, but you will not get the performance that you paid all that extra money for. The difference in price between the two grades amounts to about a buck to two bucks if you put in more than ten gallons at a fill up.

I agree you will be very unhappy with cheap gas or the base model get the Type S and live a little when you blow that extra 2 dollars a tankful for the premium gas.
