in both engines, there are 6 cylinders.

inline 6's have the cylinders in one straight row. v6's have cylinders in a "V" shaped configuration, 3 cylinders per side of the "V".

Why is this posted in the DC5/EP3 forum? Neither of these cars will EVER sport six cylinders.

V6

Inline 6

VR6

Boxer (horizontally opposed) 8... imagine it only having three on each side and it'll be a Boxer 6.
