Default rsx type s with greddy turbo

My friend has the type s with the greddy turbo, he has spent nearly 5000 dollars to have it installed and he is running about 190 to the wheels. Surprised? He is running 7 pounds of boost with no intercooler. The car is decent, but isnt tuned right. generally on a hot day when he gets on the throttle it detonates and when Vtec hits, the timing retards( it doesnt do it al the time) and the power drops off. Some think that the air fuel is off. I think that he needs to get a bigger fuel pump to compensate for the increased air being pushed in the cylinders. He is going to have it taken in to have it looked at. Does anyone know or concur with me that the fuel pump isnt pushing enough fuel? I have seen his dyno and when Vtec hits the fuel drops off. I know with this Turbo he can get alot more power to the wheels. An intercooler would be the first thing that I would do, well after he gets the tuning fixed. Thoughts? I can keep this up to date for all those who are thinking of putting the greddy turbo in their type s's

I wouldn't say that his fuel pump isn't pushing enough pressure. It may be the problem, but I doubt it. How much oil is in his car? I accidently put too much and everytime my vtec would kick in my car would sputter and not want to rev. I was pushin 10 lbs of boost though.

I dont know how much oil he has in there, I guess I could tell him to check it out.My friend is just upset that he has a 5000 dollar turbo setup that has turned his type s into a "retard" ...... Wow do many people have something to say.I dont think this thread is going to hold them all

Tell your poor friend that he needs to tune his car bad.
When I first had my kit put on, I got beat by my friend that has an RSX-S with intake-race header and exhaust. I was pissed! I called greddy and they sent me a new Emanage (their Piggy back ECU) and it helped a lot but it only netted me 214whp. Since then, I have ditched the EManage and got Hondata Kpro. Its thebest thing that I have done to my car(TUNING)
I gained almost 100 Hp from tuning it.
The greddy kit is very capable, it just needs some tuning.
The only reason why I registered on this site was cause of this post. I was once in his situation and was very unhappy with my $4K investment. Tell him to tune it and get bigger injectors. The stock pump is good for up to 350whp.
Once he tunes it, tell them Corvettes and Z28's to watch out.. trust me on this one.
Here is my dyno chart
6.5 psi=263 whp
8.8 psi=283 whp
12 psi= 303 whp and 270 tq.
