Default Exhaust Backpressure ?

Would removing the exhaust resonator create more backpressue in the system or reduce it? my thought is that a smaller diameter pipe would create backpressure, but at the same time, wouldn't a large diameter like a resonator slow exhaust gas down and create backpressure. I was thinking about removing the resonator to change the sound a bit, but don't want to lose power

you dont loose power changing the exhaust. you just move the power band around. make it bigger you have more top end power, make it smaller and you have more low end. i have found that h22's like 2.5 inch exhaust from the header back.
