Default F20C Transplant?

Does anyone know if it's ever been attempted to put an F20C (S2k motor) into a 5th gen 'lude? Is the F20C mounted horizontally opposed in the S2k? Is it even inline? Do I have the money to try this transplant even if it's possible?

NOTE: The answer to this last question is a definite no.

f20c is RWD

yea it is mounted horizontally, like most (all i guess) other RWD cars

it is an inline4

the swap itself prob wouldnt be that hard, its making your lude RWD that is a problem, unless its possible to use your tranny and just have custom mounts made...(maybe not even)
theoretically you could do this swap as a FWD
because the F series generally mates to the H series perfectly (tranny -> engine)

and the f20b was the FWD accord SiR-T

overall, i think a much more cost effective way is to build up an h22a for NA or Forced, unless you have a f20c lying around

however the more i think about it, the more this swap seems do-able as FWD

To find out if this is possible, what we'd need to know is just how related are teh f20b and f20c. Are teh mounts the same? Do the trannies mate? ect...if it is just a f20b with a different head, higher comp ratio, and rotated 90 degrees then it should fit. Only problem i see is you may need a custom header. the s2000 header wouldnt work and the f20b may not mate up to the head. If i could do it i would. I dont have $$$ layin around..

well they are both 2.0 liters so the block is very similiar
f20b reds at 8k stock (peak HP at 7500ish i believe)
pretty sure f20b has a h22a head on it, so you could use a h22a header.

the way honda does things (like legos) the F series mounts should all be the same or else they would designate it with a dif code, also the F20b fits in a late 90's accord and so does an h22a, so if the f20b and f20c block is similiar, chances are that honda wouldnt bother engineering different mounts on a motor in the same series.

i believe this is 100% doable with FWD and an H series tranny

I've never seen the usual sources of used engines carrying F20s, normally it's all SR20s, B16s, H22s, etc... The F20 is closed deck, right?

i say the head wont work. you kno how h23 and h22 headers arent interchangable? i think its the same situateion there. different flanges. but yeah, i think its doable. if i could i would!

Not really. The F series is a real bastard series. I'll get into that in a second.

Not the case. The D-series and the B-series have both evolved through different mount points, but remain with the same series designation. I beleive the C-series V6's also evolved similarly.

The F20C is a beast of it's own. The head is almost a K-series design, with a timing chain. Nobody has mentioned yet that the F20C, along with Honda's other newer engines (K-series, D17A) spin in the opposite direction of all the oldie-but-goodie A, B, C, D, E, F, etc series engines. This means if you somehow connected a FWD F or H series transaxle to the F20C (which I really doubt would bolt up) you would have five speeds of reverse and one forward. The "F-series" is really composed of a single F engine (F22A,) and H engine (F20B,) and a psuedo- K engine (F20C.)

Lots of differences make this swap non-doable without some serious conversion work.

their is a civic with the swap.......last i heard anything, it wasn't any faster than the h22a with bolt ons in it....sure it's RWD, but the stock vs. stock difference is not worth it and the h22a has a huge upside if you have money to boost it or whatever....even all motor, you can get 240+wheel hp
