brake caliper screw broke
Hey people
I jacked the car up the other day to clean the brakes and when I was going to disattach the caliper when the screw busted on me.
I had no choice but to put the wheel back on and there is still about half of a screw left in there and am wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions to get it out and avoid going to a shop.Thanks

what year is your car...
i will assume a 4th gen
if the slide pin sheared off it is pretty much a lost cause, even worse if it was the hub mounting bolt(s)
there are 4 bolts that hold the caliper assembly to the hub and so forth...
i assume you broke one of the slide bolts, which attach the actual caliper to the mounting bracket
while the other 2 attach the mounting bracket to the wheel hub/spindle
i have 2 sets of calipers, brackets and bolts lying around somewhere, if you need these parts i can help

Its a 86 lude si and I am pretty sure its the actual mounting bracket that broke.
The thing is I dont think Ill need a new caliper/s just a way to get the remaining bracket screw out and a new one back in.
I assume it is because the car is so old and not maintained as well as it should have been by the previous owner.

that bolt is constantly heating and cooling...
now what did we learn about this in science class
anyway, i would take all remaining parts off to make room to work, then i would use a handheld cutting wheel or grinder to notch the end of the bolt to try to get it out
did it snap off inside the bracket, as in the remaining bolt stud is not visible? this will make it much more difficult to remove, and you may have to cut the bracket on the open bolt hole with a cutting wheel and then split it off, and then notch the bolt, remove it, and buy a new bracket and bolts. here
