Best price on a Type-S/SiR H22?
I know, I've read all the messages about how buying a type-s is a waste of money and not worth the risk when you can spend less and instead put half as much $$ into parts on a regular 22, but I'm a bit partial to original Honda design (of course, minus the exhaust, [which had to be restrictive to keep the noise down] and other minor mods, like intake) and I figure it'd be less trouble to just swap the engine, instead of having to dismantle one and throw cams, rods, pistons etc. into it. This is of course up for debate ... constantly. Anyway, seeing how I don't have the money at the moment anyway, how about some feedback just for the hell of it: What's the best price/best place to purchase a Type-S or Accord SiR (Euro-R if I've done something wrong) H22? Thanks in advance.
type s engine is $4400. h22a is $2200. Thats a $2400 difference, and all you have to do is swap cams, mod the rods to hold the floating wrist pin, and swap slugs. pistons are under $200 if you are savvy, cams are under $500 or you could just go after market anyways. Even if you have someone else assemble those pieces, you're still saving mucho bucko.
The accord siR uses an F20B. The euro R uses the h22.

am I right in assuming that euro-R pistons can be easily swapped with the standard jdm h22 pistons? Still, it just sounds like a safer bet to just buy the whole engine, I know most of these mods aren't made of plastic, and have lasted in a lot of cars, but in the end i still think of one vs. the other and it seems to make more sense to use the engine made wholly by honda without tinkering around with anything.

Plus port n polished head.
right, in fact I even had posted or responded to another thread regarding installing a quaife as opposed to using a Honda LSD tranny. Just trying to get some prices, I've looked, but I'm not sure how well. The cheapest I've found so far for a Type-S or Euro-R H22 was $3950 at http://www.japandomesticmotor.com/
how's availability on type-s parts? Still, it's labor, I mean if I pay someone else to do it (which is perhaps my only option, I'm knowledgeable, but not THAT mechanically inclined), it still means removing the head to replace the pistons, etc. What about the deck, are both the jdm h22 and the h22 euro r open deck? Or am i way off and is the jdm h22 closed? Either way, how would that play in, if at all, if I were to instead swap type-s/euro-r parts into a standard jdm 22?
