top speed
What about stock top speed? I can't really see a stock lude going 150... but I could be wrong, I hvan't had the time to test mine, it snowed last week, and I've only had mine for 2weeks.

Top speed is 142. The speedo is a little off calibration, so when it says 150, that is 142. Car and Driver tested it a couple times since 1997, each time comming up with the same top speed. I'm not sure if thats electronically governed or aerodynamically limited.

well.. i've gotten mine up to 125 on i40, and it was just as smooth as 80mph. the tach was right under 5....
this isnt a stock lude...
1998 prelude SH with..
421 headers, catback, cam gears, pullys, cold air intake, 10.5:1,
h&r springs, coilovers, front and back struts... wide tires.
the suspension system is what gave it the smooth ride probably.. but it seemed very smooth, and it really didnt make you think twice about going faster... but i'd like to keep my car around, and me for that matter, for a little longer
one day...

I'm just happy to have a car that can do 120 without rattling, vibrating, or scaring the bejesus out of me. Thats what it was like in my 1990 Chevy Beretta GT (and that was a V6 nonetheless!)
Mabe a car that's scary to drive that fast isn't such a bad thing......
Yeah, it is!

Our speed limit is 70 MPH here in Michigan and many times I have pushed the speedo to 140 and held it there for four or five minutes. This is probably not the true speed but is probably a real world gun speed of 130-132 MPH. The car sets in and starts to snug the road real nice. The stearing reashures confidence and the car seems to want more. Two years ago my girl and I were heading to Detroit for a concert (we live in Grand Rapids) and we tailed a Mitsubishi 3000 gt from Grand Rapids to Lansing with a full cooler of beer and a sound system with three 10' soundstream subs in the rear. The speedo was banging off 140 and the tach was well past redline sitting at around 7100 RPM. We past the 3000 (non turbo w/ exhuast and intake) and he follow us to get gas when we got into Lansing. He couldn't believe I wasn't running a turbo and asked to check the goods. When he saw that I was NA he shit his pants. The following week I had to replace my water pump. Strange coincidence
It blew the bearing seal due to extreem and extended cavitation.
