what you do is look for all the screws. the first visible set will be in the middle of the console on the sides. it'll be a phillips head. then, if you go into the footwell on both sides, you'll see some panels that cover up the hole between the center console, dash console. Pull them out gently (no tools required.) and it will expose 2 more (both sides of the dash console) screws. then, put your seats up and all the way forward, and look at the back of the center console (from the backseats) and you'll see 3 screws on each side. Unscrew the first (first being closest to the front of the car) screw on both sides. Take your shift knob off by pulling down on the boot (disconnecting the shiftknob from that ugly silver lining) and then take out the change collector. Lift forward from the back and when it's halfway up, disconnect the electrical connector that lights up the change collector. then remove the center console.

changing the boot will be a pain, but take off the plastic ring that holds the boot in place then remove all of the staples holding the boot to the ring. make necessary fitment adjustments with new boot, and staple to taste. now would be a good time to install a short shift adapter if you have one, because you need to cut away some of the boot/console because the adapter will rub in 5th gear.
