yep poly stuffing is supposed to add about 20% box space, but only in a sealed box. But I wouldn't really recomend a sealed box, a ported box will give you a free 3db boost. I have a 4.25 cubic box in 4th gen and it takes up the entire trunk. I keep the spare in the backseat when I need to.

Anyway, yeah, the Prelude has about 8 cu. ft. of trunk space. Not much, but I will say my Boston Accoustic Rally series 6x9's are more than adequate. I can get some clean and powerfull bass out of them. You may want to consider that option. You won't get it with any other mfg., so don't even try. But BA has fantastic 6x9's that when properly amplified will be a great substitute for subs, especially when you have limited trunk space.
ill have to post pics of my trunk and the set up. im only allowed 29" w x13"lx12"h. i kno thats not enough for the 2 subs i wanna use. i wanna find a way to create more space from what im am workin with. my buddies says i should jus use one which will be perfect for the limited space but i want to have a mind-numbin system. so soon ill have some pics of my trunk so u guys can see what im talkin bout. ne more info will be appreciated, and thanks for all the info guys
what kind of box were you thinking of going with? I, Personally, would reccommend a sealed box w/ any sub, mainly due to the fact that you will get much better sound quality, and much better responce in your bass. I have a 4th gen that i'm doing my system in. seeing as how this my second 4th gen that i'm doing one in, have decided to completely leave the trunk alone, and mold the system into where the back seat currently is. so, depending on how much you want to spend, that could be an option.
yea im goin wit the sealed box also. ive seen it where the box sits in the back seat...its looks koo but i would rather have it in the back of the trunk. . ill post up the set up i have so far..i have the amp rack all ready. basicly what i did was took out the old panel that leads to teh spare and built my own and i cut a section where the amp will sit and put some hindges on it so i can lift that section up and pull out my spare. i jus need to some how build a box ( true to specs) but i guess if it comes down to it, it mite be off a little, it may be difficult to pictue what i jus said so ill post some pics soon. thanks for the in put
well since you want mind numbing bass I seriously suggest you go ported. It will make a huge difference, No one ever compete's in spl comp with a sealed box. Do a search you'll see it makes a world of difference. Of course you would need to add a subsonic filter if your amp doesn't have one. The most efficient way to use the space would probably be to fiberglass your own box. I wouldn't just use one 12" though, if you only wanted one driver I would go with a 15". The biggest enemy to mind numbing bass in honda's is the electrical system. Look into upgrading the battery, wires, and alternator.
I wouldnt reccomend a ported box... too bassy... really annoying. If your into techno/trance/dance get sealed sealed sounds a lot better than ported. Ported is delayed and sounds horrible. Rap music is reccomended for ported. But ported just sounds really crappy you never get any punchy bass.
