Default Prelude info please: SHs come without a spoiler?

I am looking through the online classifieds to buy a Prelude and I see a good deal, but it seems too good to be true (and it probably is). It is a 2001 Prelude, with 23K miles selling for $14K. It is listed as a manual too, but in the picture there is no spoiler. This is a used car dealer, so they might be recycling pictures (maybe).

I always thought all of the Prelude SH models came with a spoiler. Is this true?

Help appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, All Type-SH's came with a spoiler from the factory. However, since it's used, there's the possibilty that a previous owner could have removed it.

Or more likely, it's just a Base 5 speed.

If the car has no spoiler and it's a Type-SH, the trunk has been replaced or bondoed. The spoilers are drilled through the lid and the spacers have VERY strong double sided glue on them (not just stickers). If you try to rip the spoiler off after it's been on a while, you will actually tear the spacers and pull paint off with it. I have actually seen an idiot do that once. Not reconended. He had to take it to a body shop and get 750.00 in repairs and repaint the trunk lid. Also, all Type-SH models are 5 speed manuals. Now, as for the picture..... it's probably either the wrong picture or incorrect advertising. Another thing, if they are asking 14k for an 01 Prelude Type-SH with 23k on it, it was either badly wrecked or they have no clue what they are selling..... that car is easily worth 18k and up if it's mint. But don't tell them that. Act like it's a piece of garbage, get it for 13k or less, and then sell it yourself and instantly make a 5k profit! Or, keep it and enjoy it even more because you got a dream car for cheap!

Hey I contacted the vendor and they told me the car has several dents and dings. He replied and said that it is the base model, and the trunk has no spare, jack or lug wrench. No wonder. But I didn't keep my hopes up, just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the info guys. You guys are the best!
jfiedler, thanks for offering to get the car's info for me. Perhaps you can look a VIN up for me in the future? That'd be so awesome.

Oh here is the link from Autotrader BTW. I shoulda posted that in the first place.

Huh? Sorry I didn't understand the last part of what you said vtecguy2.

I know its cheap but it is auto/sport shift, and I always wanted a manual (10 years now!! OMG) but never had a chance till now. I don't want to deal with the dents, etc either. If anyone else is interested in that car, go for it! It really is cheap, but I don't know the history on it.

You're doing the right thing. Honda metal is very lightweight to begin with, so it is easy to dent if you are not careful. If you want a true five speed, I say go for it. Forget the sportshift. Sticks are faster, more fun, more economical, and what the car was designed for in the first place. This was my first new car and first car with a stick shift, and I will never go back. Not even to cope with trafic. The positives outweigh the drawbacks with a manual sports car, and you deserve one now if you've been driving for 10 years and haven't had one yet.
