Hit a pothole, please help
Hello there, a friend of mine hit a nasty pothole in her '01 prelude yesterday, getting a flat and bending one of her oem wheels (non-SH) in the process. I'm trying to persuade her to use this opportunity to get aftermarket rim + tire pkg for her car, but she's concerned with the cost. So far, she's leaning toward just replacing just the one that is damaged. My question is...
1) How much does an oem prelude wheel cost, and where would I be able to purchase it?
2) If she decided to buy aftermarket, what size is reasonable considering she has stock shock/springs? (more specifically, would 17-inch wheels drastically alter the ride quality?)
3) Any other helpful comments would be appreciated, thanks.

i dont think that she should get rims at all. In the long run they'll cost her more money. If she bent a stock rim with as much tread as those have on them compared to after market, she'll prolly crack the whole rim how she drives. I mostly only here and read about how after market rims get bent not stock. I suggest finding someone who is selling stock rims for cheap. Alot of prelude owners get aftermarket rims and sell there stock. I dont suggest your friend buying aftermarket tho.
Having a new set of 4 OEM BASE rims in the box is nice (for sale at right price). As to the aftermarket rims in a 16x7 size-my Motegi MR12's are still like new and we have some of the worst roads in the Northeast here. If the rim is not cracked it can be repaired in many cases. You can find shops all over the country. There is one in Raleigh, NC that has has BASE rims and will redo damaged ones. Cost from the dealer -retail-is way over $300 per wheel. You can buy a set of MR12's for about $600 when they are on sale at NTB or elsewhere. (I won't let my set go that low as it is complete with everything). I will agree that in some places a larger diameter wheel is not a good idea.
