Whats Wrong?

Just drivin along stopped at a stop at a stop light and engine sounded horrible. Sort of like a Bowling ball rolling around inside. When i checked the oil it was sort of low but the oil light never came on. Any ideas????

not sure, but it might help other people to know what year prelude you have

The oil light only comes on when it is too late. Did the noise stop when you added oil?

no the noise never did stop once i added oil, but rpm's were jumping up and down and when the rpm's got low oil light did flicker. The car is a 94 prelude Si 2.3L

Well i have just decided to replace the h23a with a h22a. Anyone know of any how to sites to convert the h23 dohc to a h22 vtec and what is needed?

Doesnt that kinda defeat the purpose of having the light? The light will go on if the pressure drops too low or if the level goes below a certain mark.
